"Today, Tuesday, 21st July, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau on said, 29 deaths involving 106 road crashes were recorded across the State between January and June, 2015."
The Public Education Officer of the Command, Mr. Andrew Bala, said that, no fewer than 188 persons were severely injured during the same period.
Bala attributed the carnages to reckless driving, over speeding, overloading and wrongful overtaking by commercial driver
He, however, said that there was over 50 per cent reduction in the rate of accidents in the state compared to the same period in 2014.
"Within the last six months, speed violation accounted for about 65 per cent of the causative factors of road accidents in Plateau.
"Compare to 2014, there is drastic reduction in the rate of crashes this year.
He sttributed the gross reduction to the resilient of the officers and men of the corps, as they were on toes and ensured carried out massive sensitization on the drivers.
Bala called on motorists to desist from overloading, over speeding and making phone calls while driving. Urging them to abstain from drinking while driving, wrongful overtaking and any other negative act that could cause accident.
