Ogidi Day! Ogidi Day!! Ogidi Day!!!
Hmmmm….. that was what was on the mouth from people that come from the land of OGIDI, which is one of the yoruba communities in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State with a population of about 15,000 people. The oral tradition records it that their progenitor was from Ile Ife, a place believed to be the source of all Yoruba, it is one of the towns in Kogi State that speak Yoruba fluently and has everything peculiar to Yoruba towns and cities .
Most of the descendants are really doing well in their works of life and they actually decided to bring some more awareness, publicity, a little civilization, exposure and fun back to their roots. Mr Tunde Ipinmisho, the National President of Ogidi Development Union and his team of executives sat down and stressed their heads to come up with what we have to be the biggest cultural event in the history of Kogi State, maybe Nigeria.
They hosted the ever glorious and colourful cultural event during the early hours of Saturday, 21st June 2014.

The Etsu Nupe sent a 10 – man delegation, Dr Eyitayo Lambo and wife were present, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation was represented by Director – General, National Art and Gallery, Chief Emeka Okonkwon, Amowomoni of Ogidi,who dispatched a bus load of Igbo delegates, Mallam Muhammed Haruna, former Managing Director, New Nigerian Newspapers, who gave a wonderful speech, The father of the day, Elder Babtunde Fadumiyo, National President, Okun Development Association, Maj-Gen Julius Oshanupin, Barrister Bamidele Suru, Chief Executive Officer, Chopmore Eateries, Lokoja Chief (Mrs ) Nike Okundaye, Yeyeoba of Ogidiland, promoter, Nike Art Gallery, Lekki Lagos was with His Excellency, Mr Michael Arion, the Ambassador and head of delegation of the European Union, Hon TJ Yusuf, member, House of Representatives, Mr Dino Melaye, former member, House of Representatives ,The traditional rulers from the neighbouring communities, the Olus of Iya Gbedde, Ikoyi, Ilu Afon, Agrigbori, Aye Gbedde, Eleshope of Ayede Opa, Ologale of Ogale, Alayere of Ayere, were all present not only to give royal support to Oba Sule, but also to be participate and witnesses of the 2014 Ogidi Ela Day.
