Released as the third single from Anitta’s upcoming fifth studio album, Girl from Rio (2022), “Faking Love” marks the first collaboration between the singer and American rapper Saweetie.

Over Brazilian funk beats, the style Anitta first achieved success for in her home country, the two artists sing about a break-up that leaves no hurt as there were no real feelings involved.

Anitta and Saweetie first met at the 2021 Met Gala, on September 13th, when they posted a selfie together on social media. Anitta then started teasing a new song on October 9th by posting behind-the-scenes pictures of a music video. Two days later, she announced the title of the track and that it would be a collaboration. Finally, Saweetie was revealed as the featured artist the next day.
