2021 has flown by in the blink of an eye, and the holiday season is quickly creeping around the corner. Every year, a handful of artists help us get into the spirit by dropping off Christmas singles and albums that we can blast while sipping on hot cocoa, relaxing by the fire place, and driving around to look at the beautiful lights.
Back in 2020, the late, great DMX spent some time at Spotify Studios to record his cover of a seasonal classic – “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer.” The song comes in at just over a minute and a half, and sees the Mount Vernon native sing the song that we all know and love over a much more amped up beat, adding some edge to the track with his gruff voice.
We lost the “Party Up” hitmaker to a cocaine-induced heart attack earlier in 2021, but his holiday spirit continues to live on thanks to a new animated visual for the song, directed by Chris Bivins. The clip shows an animated X in a Santa suit, hanging out amongst his reindeer friends as he lists of their names.
They then fly through the night sky in their sleigh, delivering presents to children all around the world so that Rudolph and his pals can “go down in history,” as the song goes.
