“With the pace the Nigerian musical industry is going, beef is inevitable. Music lovers should expect that from time to time. Thus, beef is good in music especially in hip hop/rap. Also, artist beef could be a form of publicity stunt used by promoters and management of both parties involved.
Both Davido and Wizkid are good extraordinary afro pop artists with amazing hits from the time they both shone to limelight. None of them has ever disappointed their fans at any point in time. In fact, they could both be regarded as the young ambassadors of African music!
It all started in may 2012 when it was rumoured that Davido left Wizkid drunk at club Mavida on Idowu Taylor street in VI Lagos with an uncleared bill of #500,000. Heard a good friend would stand by you in the cell! Meanwhile, Davido has already divided wizkid market into two (2) with his debut album O.B.O, but a ‘professional-like’ wizkid still tries to keep his rival a colleague. The year haven’t draw her curtain before they reconciled. They were seen to have performed together in the late 2012 to mid 2013 when something else happened….
The beef got sore when Davido launched his O.B.O. album at the Eko hotel & Suites V.I without extending an invitation to Wizkid. Though they’ve not done any collabo together till present, one expected Wizkid not to be a guest at the album launch even with his appearance in Davido’s platinum hit single ‘Dami Duro’. The year haven’t draw her curtain before they reconciled. They were seen to have performed together in the late 2012 to mid 2013 when something else happened…..
Though both of them announced to dropping a second album in different interviews in the year 2014, its obvious that there exist a fight for relevance between the two youngsters as they drop counter hit songs after each other. Davido has no doubt worked so hard to conquer Africa in the 1st and 2nd quarters of the year while Wizkid too had sold out shows in Africa, Europe and America.
The invasion of Africa by Davido in the late 2013 to 1st quarter of 2014 earned him many awards with the influential BET award which Wizkid is also a recipient. Davido has indeed garnered much awards for himself by being focused and determined while the hardworking Wizzy had been busy on capturing the world.
In conclusion, Wizkid has been more successful in the industry than Davido in aggregate, while Davido has had an astonishing successful moment in the past two (2) years. The bottom line is that someone should talk to this folks as to what extent their beef, if need be for any, should get to before their die hard fans would take to physical abuse!
