Ed Sheeran recruits his friend and frequent collaborator Taylor Swift for a new take on his = (Equals) track “The Joker And The Queen,” a ballad about a fulfilling relationship that thrives despite the couple’s fears. It’s the fourth track from = (Equals) and his fourth overall collab with Swift, following 2012’s “Everything Has Changed,” 2017’s “End Game,” and 2021’s “Run,” which they wrote together in 2012.

Sheeran first teased the collab in an interview with Capital FM in October 2021, where he said a remix of the track was on the works, featuring a female American artist. After months of speculation, it was confirmed, by YouTube copyright claims, that the featured artist would be Taylor Swift. Sheeran officially confirmed the track just days later at the 2022 BRIT Awards.
