Two dominating forces in Hip Hop have collided as a producing giant and a Rap star released a new track. Southside has been behind several of our favorites in recent years, and it looks as if his career is still on its incline. His former relationship with City Girls rapper Yung Miami often takes social media attention, but outside of the online antics, Southside has been working on new music. There are rumors that a project is on the horizon, and that gossip has continued to heat up with the release of his Lil Durk collaboration, “Save Me.”
This one arrives just a few months after Southside, Future, and Travis Scott dropped off their track, “Hold That Heat.” On “Save Me,” Durk spins lyrics about life in the trenches while also touching on feeling unappreciated now that he’s providing for several people in his circle. It seems that there are a few ungrateful folks on Durk’s line, so he had to get some things off of his chest.

[Intro]
Ayy Southside, where you get all that drip?
Nah, nah
[Pre-Chorus]
I been grippin’ pistols, I been cuttin’ niggas drank
I been puttin’ stickers, on the bottom of the Drac’
I put the city on my back, I can really get a “Thanks”
I claimed niggas was my dawgs, they turned out to be the jakes
Came in a thousand times before my daughter, I was shootin’ blanks
[Chorus]
Could you really, really save me? (Save me)
Could you really, really save me? (Save)
Could you really, really save me?
[Verse 1]
Trench baby, I was on my last with my fifth baby
Rent, cable, couldn’t pay with cards, it was disabled
Gotta build a relationship with your kids whenever a bitch hate you
Talk about you like you ain’t shit, like we ain’t save you
Every time I’m tryna go pay your bond whenever they reinstate you
I won’t believe no rumors, that nigga snitch ’cause I ain’t even see no paper
Street niggas’ll never get tapped on the back whenever they see us make it
My dawg be talkin’ ’bout one of my dawgs, I’m like that shit is crazy
You ain’t got to be top-notch everywhere, you could be trenches famous
These niggas be talkin’ ’bout who they killed that shit be entertainment
Sit back, laugh, and talkin’ ’bout how we came from the basement
And I don’t be carin’ ’bout the next nigga, shit, the trenches made me
[Pre-Chorus]
I been grippin’ pistols, I been cuttin’ niggas drank
I been puttin’ stickers, on the bottom of the Drac’
I put a city on my back, I can’t really get a “Thanks”
I claimed niggas was my dawgs, they turned out to be the jakes
Came in a thousand times before my daughter, I was shootin’ blanks
[Chorus]
Could you really, really save me? (Save me)
Could you really, really save me? (Save)
Could you really, really save me?
[Verse 2]
I gave you a thousand dollars on brother times a lot of times
They ask me what I want in return, I told ’em a lot of slidin’
I was down on my back, I ain’t wanna ask, that’s just a part of pride
I never let go, never ever, I lock down
Who gon’ ride when you at your lowest? From the guys, I don’t feel no harm
Head down, I pray with my palms and I cry when I play with my son
When it’s time, you better not run, man down on St Lawrence
They dyin’, they backdoorin’, they tryin’ and they know it
From the streets, you go through courses, gun down with no remorses
Real love, ain’t gon’ force it, real love can be torture
Eight bars off endorsement, not a gang, this shit corporate
Fuck with the feelings, act like a lawyer
I’m The Voice, I don’t hear voices
[Pre-Chorus]
I been grippin’ pistols, I been cuttin’ niggas drank
I been puttin’ stickers, on the bottom of the Drac’
I put the city on my back, I can really get a “Thanks”
I claimed niggas was my dawgs, they turned out to be the jakes
Came in a thousand times before my daughter, I was shootin’ blanks
[Chorus]
Could you really, really save me? (Save me)
Could you really, really save me? (Save)
Could you really, really save me?
