“Fast rising urban highlife act, Adekunle Gold has opened up on how the deal to become a part of Olamide-led YBNL came to be.”
Adekunle, whose singles, ‘Orente’ and ‘Sade’ continue to dominate the airwaves, disclosed to NET in an exclusive interview that prior to the deal, he had a business relationship with the label.
‘I have been doing stuff with Olamide before I was signed. I am a graphics designer and brand developer and I actually designed the YBNL logo. I have done a couple of designs for Lil Kesh, Viktoh and Olamide himself at some point.’
He further disclosed that Olamide was impressed with his debut single, ‘Sade’ which made the deal
go through.
‘When I recorded Sade, Olamide and the entire YBNL soldiers were impressed. He called me a day before the OLIC (Olamide Live In Concert) and that was when I discovered the entire team were feeling the jam.
Olamide later called me that he was interested in working with me. That was how the deal came through.’
