Che Lingo Dark Days

Che Lingo Dark Days

He returns with “Dark Days,” an elegantly produced track with Kojey Radical in which the two reflect on their relationships and missed opportunities to show love.

“This song is a self-prescribed therapy session,” he said in a statement about the song. “Growing up and getting into dating and experiencing things as a young black male, I realized I had nothing to go on relationship-wise because my household wasn’t nuclear.”

Over a relaxing harp loop, luxurious strings, and a rich warm bassline, the two exorcise their demons as they pledge to do better for the special women in their lives.

Lyrics

(You wanna talk about black love)
Yeah,
Dark days,
dark days,
(You wanna talk about black love)

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster,

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster ooo na na,

Last year it was Margiela baby,
this year it’s therapy,
Couple new priorities,
Turn the pain into monopolies,

Mumma still call me Hercules coz she don’t know about the felonies,
Couple niggas call me family,
If I trust’em still relative,

Smoke good still a tendency,
Tend to do the most off the Hennessy,
Sipping good I been sinning lately,
I be late calling for the remedy,

Daddy missing so you carry baggage,
Cuh your mumma built you like a Cherokee,
The majority of the maturity,
So there’s no surprise when,

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster,

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster, ooo na na

You wanna talk about black love, Yeah
I ain’t really got examples, uh

I was raised by my nana cuh my mum was on the roads getting money with a sharp tool,
Funny how I probably developed a couple scars too,

First born I was whiter than the milk man,
daddy was a dark horse,
So when he never came back with the blue cap,
It proved the capacity for love was only half full,

T-T-Took her for a drink on Tuesday,
Now I dodger but I know it isnt artful,

You know women got a 6th sense,
So there really isn’t putting nothing past you,

Yo whats that little feeling in your heart called
When you wanna tell her but really don’t wanna argue, Gonna have to help me, nurse these, harsh wounds,
Didn’t wanna ask you but…

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster ooo na na,

I need you to heal me,
Hold me like my muddah (mother),
Shits been getting real lately,
I just did a muzzah,

Missing like my father,
Tired with my arms up,
Praying when they cut me,
you’ll come buck me with a plaster ooo na na
