Nollywood star, Iniobong Edo, has also caught the divorce bug rampaging the entertainment world as her marriage has reportedly packed-up. After several weeks of speculations and denial, the Akwa-Ibom born actress took the bull by the horn penultimate week as she announced to the world on twitter that she had indeed bid farewell to her six-years marriage to Philips Ehiagwina. Ehiagwina, a US-based Nigerian, married the beautiful actress November 2008 in an elaborate ceremony that was held in Houston, Texas. Sadly, the estranged couple would have celebrated their wedding anniversary next month.
Contrary to speculations that she was unfaithful to her foreign-based hubby and that that was what led to the break-up of her marriage, the Nollywood star said she specifically asked for divorce because of “irreconcilable differences.” However, when she thought the issue had been settled with her tweets and was ready to put it behind her, people who claimed to be her in-laws took her up and informed the world that the dark-skinned star was indeed economical with the truth in her own version of the divorce saga. In a more interesting but messier twist, these people who claimed to be her in-laws alleged that she cheated on her husband and even threatened to wash her dirty linens in public should she continue to claim that the divorce was based on irreconcilable differences. They even claimed that Philip had collected the bride price he paid on her.
Ini Edo, a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Calabar, began her film career in 2000 and has featured in several movies since that time. Her divorce saga is coming just a week after the story of sensational music star, Tiwa Savage, and her estranged hubby TeeBliz went trending. Also, a month back, another actress Uche Ogbodo’s brief union with Ato Uby hit the rock. The light complexioned actress’ union broke up to the disappointment of her numerous fans. In an interview she granted an online publication, she claimed that the crash was due to “irreconcilable” differences too. Of course, the likes of Monalissa Chinda, Chika Ike, Stephanie Okereke, Eucharia Anunobi, Funke Akindele, Shan George, Kate Henshaw, Doris Simeon, Foluke Daramola, Fathia Balogun, Lola Alao, and Laide Bakare have also been bitten by the divorce/breakup bug.
