Yenagoa-born hip-hop and Afrobeats artist Big Funds is ready to make his mark in the Nigerian music industry with a unique sound. Born Tarila Macfisi, Big Funds has been passionate about music from an early age, though his journey into the industry only officially began last year.
He said “Music has always been a part of me, even when I didn’t have the resources or connections and I’m constantly evolving my sound, blending the energy of hip-hop with the vibe of Afrobeats. Bringing these worlds together is something I’m passionate about.”
Though he knows that will be a course that demands dedication, Big Funds describes his sound as heavy and unique, combining the energy of hip-hop with Afrobeats influences to show that his passion for life’s struggles is evident in his music, which he hopes will resonate with listeners facing similar challenges. “I come with heat and vibe, not just to entertain but to motivate and shake up the room,” he says. “And my music is for anyone trying to push through life’s hardships and stay motivated.”
While he hasn’t yet experienced his big breakthrough, Big Funds is steadily building a fanbase, particularly on his socials. “I’m working on something big,” he teases his fans. “My next release will be my best work yet, and I can’t wait for my fans to hear it.”
Big Funds’ influences come from a mix of his struggles and musical idols like Burna Boy and Young Dolph.
