I was told this story by a fellow Nigerian students who witnessed the sad incident. This past Saturday the 23rd of November, two Nigerian students identified as Charles Alele and Edward Honesty drowned at the Volta region of Ghana, where they went for an excursion. The boys were students of Knutsford University college in Accra, and went for the excursion at the Afrikiko resort in Akosombo.
To get to their destination, they had to cross a river and considering the high cost of speed boats, the boys opted to use a canoe, whilst the Management that brought them and other students were still trying to arrange for a speed boat. They allegedly arranged for with a local fisherman to help them cross the river. On crossing the river, with 5 students on board the canoe, including the fisherman all without a life jacket, the boat suddenly capsized. Three of the students who could swim, swam to safety, whilst Charles and Eddy drowned. The fisherman allegedly ran away but has since been caught. . . May their souls Rest In Peace. . . Amen!
