Prominent UK Newspaper Claims Davido’s 02 Arena Concert Wasn’t ‘Sold Out’
A prominent newspaper in the United Kingdom, The Guardian has disclosed that Davido nearly sold out the O2 Arena in London, a statement that contradicts the singer’s declaration that it was sold-out.
On Saturday – a day before the concert – the DMW boss had visited his social media pages to reveal that he had sold out the arena for his concert.
He wrote: “I’m screaming, It’s going to be a long day for haters tomorrow. Thanks to all that made this possible.
“The boy called David sold out the O2. See everyone tomorrow(Sunday).”
The tweet quickly garnered attention (with retweets and likes) from social media users in Nigeria and outside.
While his fans took to the comment section of the post to hail the music star for joining the leagues of other a-list acts who had achieved the same feat, his critics also jumped on the post to express their doubt about the credibility of the news.
However, in an article dated January 28, where the news outlet did a review of the singer’s event, they wrote in part “considering the anticipation attached to this gig, which has been talked up as a significant event for Davido – he’s nearly sold out the O2, a considerable leap toward the mainstream.”
It means the singer may not have actually sold out the whole 20,000 capacity as he earlier claimed.
