Astroworld

Travis Scott’s Album ‘Astroworld‘ Sets as the 2nd Largest Debut in 2018 according to Billboard album chart.

Finally, after a five-week reign, someone has toppled Drake at the summit of Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart. Unsurprisingly, it was Travis Scott who pulled off the feat, unseating Drake by a wide margin. Travis’ Astroworld sold 537,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, with Drake falling to 2nd with a performance of 117,000 units sold. Rounding out the top 5 are Mac Miller (Swimming) with 66,000 units, Post Malone (Beerbongs & Bentleys) with 58,000 units, and YG (Stay Dangerous) with 56,000 units.

Worth noting, Post Malone has spent 15 weeks lodged in the top 5 of Billboard’s Top 200, and will likely onto his place at the expense of YG (regrettably) once Nicki Minaj’s numbers are counted towards the total. Of Astroworld’s 537,000 units sold, 270,000 were driven by traditional album sales, meaning the album was downloaded or purchased in a single transaction.

Aside from posting the 2nd largest debut of 2018, Travis also achieved the 5th largest streaming week ever. The only albums to outperform Astroworld are both clinging to their spots in the Top 5. Drake’s Scorpion holds the record at 745.92 million, while Post Malone’s personal best rose to 431.3 million for Beerbongs & Bentleys.
This is remarkably Travis Scott’s 2nd #1 album ever after outpacing the competition in 2016 with Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight. Rodeo, the album many consider his best work to date, only peaked at #3.
