Popular American rapper, A$AP Rocky, has been charged with two counts of assault and weapon use during a shooting incident in California in 2021.
Rocky, who has a baby with singer Rihanna is accused of pointing a gun and later firing twice in the direction of the victim, a former friend of his, A$AP Relli.
Police record claim, “Two people were arguing in the Hollywood area of the city on November 6, 2021, when it escalated and the rapper allegedly fired a handgun. The person who was shot sustained a minor injury and sought medical treatment.”
In an announcement on the matter, the LA County District Attorney, George Gascón, said, “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offence that could have ended with tragic consequences, not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.”
Rocky, who was arrested and discharged on a $550, 000 bail, is scheduled to be prosecuted on Wednesday at the Foltz Criminal Justice Centre and if found guilty could face nine years in prison.
