One of the problem facing Nigeria’s business world is the ever growing persistence of people who perform scam activities.
Scammers as they are fondly called, operate every where, either online or offline. A famous principal Researcher at Microsoft , Cormac Herley says in one of his article titled “Nigerians Try To Stop Nigerian Internet Scammers” that Nigerian Scam‘ is now one of the suggested auto-completes in a Google search for Nigeria. This indicates the high occurence of the fradulent activity and people’s unending desire to avoid being scammed.
Dating site, Forum sites and large marketplaces in Nigeria give room for scammers, because they confuse people with amazingly cheap things.
Often times, people who have been scammed in one way or the other discourage other from trading in such business platform based on their experience
There is a general notion that all Nigerian free online classifieds Ads website are scam full. JiJi.ng, is unfortunately, not an exception.

What we do with scammers?
Jiji.ng wants their users be safe. And, if it detects fraudsters on the site, they will be removed forever.
Our uniqueness is in our method of fighting scammers. We always try to ensure that only honest, real people are buying and selling on our site, and we help them to do this more comfortably. So we decided to show you how our “fighting” works from a technical point of view, and “acquaint” you with most of the known internet scammers in Nigeria. You should know them by sight and beware.
In addition, we hope scammers will understand that their conduct is unacceptable and stop their nefarious activities.
How do we find serious fraud on JiJi?
Every Jiji user can complain about suspicious, scam ads. You should just push the button “Something wrong?” and then choose the reason for your suspicion (for example, it is illegal; seller asked for prepayment; it is spam).
JiJi.ng has an important step of blocking ads – user’s verification. Only real people, who have already been registered on the site and approved their e-mail, may apply for the blocking advertisement.
If user gets 2 requests for ban – he automatically will be blocked by system JiJi.ng.
Remember, there are two types of complaining on users – serious (marked with red color) and not serious (marked with yellow color). If one persons picks up five not serious complaints – he or she will be also blocked.
Why don’t we ban a user after the first complaint?
A market place is a place where all people are competitors. So, we don’t necessarily trust the first request for a block. Some people want to get rid of competitors on JiJi by such methods – just pushing the red button once.
That’s why JiJi has a serious approach and bans only real scammers. Its special smart algorithm checks the veracity of complaints and if the complaint doesn’t pass on certain criteria, the system ceases to be taken into account and does not react.

For example, when we found this review on Linda’s blog about scammer OLUKIA TOSIN on JiJi, we were outraged. He was immediately banned! ONUKA TOSIN is no longer a user on JiJi.ng.
