They said they resolved to take the action because the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria failed to pay them compensation for acquiring their land.
The landowners are operating on the platform of Airport Hillview and Layout Landlords Association, Enugu State.
A statement by the publicity secretary of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Ivuanyi, on Thursday, faulted FAAN for not paying compensations to affected landowners.
According to them, they were promised compensation when the land was acquired in 2009 by the Federal Government for the expansion and remodelling of the airport to international status.
They, however, said that since then, they had yet to receive any form of compensation from FAAN.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that 11 of the landowners who started the fight for compensation had died.
One of the landowners, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwurah, said they would, in their thousands, besiege the airport very early today (Saturday) and ensure that sensitive materials for the Anambra governorship election do not leave the airport.
“We are prepared to die for this, so no amount of security confrontation will hinder our action,” said Chukwurah.”
