African Women Industrialization Awards 2022 set to hold on the 19th March 2022
The African Women Industrialization Awards is an initiative that promotes women achievers, narrative-changers, game influencers, and boundary-breakers across every industry, field, and sector.
The African Women Industrialization Award is a bold move to celebrate women who have scaled the odds, navigated the challenges, and proffered solutions to every kind of problem towards making the world a better place.
Over the years, grassroots women and girls have been underrepresented in the tech space thereby reducing the chances of having a girl child fully embrace STEM by finding an everyday application where her ideas could thrive. The underrepresentation of grassroots women and girls in the tech sector reflects a broader issue of gender imbalance in STEM fields. Educators and even Dr. Kamau Bobb have said that STEM education advocates for increased diversity and inclusion to ensure that individuals from all backgrounds, including girls, have equal opportunities to pursue STEM careers.
In our bid to find a solution, we realized that most organizations with the potential to create opportunities for these young women are run by women or have a few women on their board not forgetting that some are not without challenges of structure, business ethics and the likes.
Hence, it became imperative for AWI – African Women Industrialization Business Hub to be created in order to bridge this gap. AWI achieves these through the creation of; Award of recognition for women, girls and the men who support them, also through business training and STEM programs that will enhance the capacity of African Women to run sustainable businesses, especially for those at the grassroots. Each year’s theme determines the major activity used to support a large body of grassroots women in building sustainable businesses.
Furthermore, AWIA – African Women Industrialization Awards helps celebrate those who have crossed this hurdle in order to set them as role models for those in training (young girls) to mirror and learn from.
AWI provides the platform for young girls in tech to be able to pitch to Awardees from selected organizations for investment opportunities.
This is done annually on international women’s day with the Mother of the day being the First Lady of a state within the African continent and also with moral support from the US Consulate who sponsored the Founder to acquire this knowledge and impact her community.
