In a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, the suspect identified as Emeka Odo, was a notorious robber who had been terrorising motorists and inhabitants of Obollo Afor in Udenu local government area of the state and its environs but he met his nemesis when he was caught and beenbeaten to death by an angry mob who were tired of his reign of terror.
Amaraizu disclosed that the robber met his waterloo after he allegedly pulled a locally made pistol on a victim, adding that people swiftly overpowered him, rescued his victim and wounded him seriously.
“It was gathered that before the arrival of police operatives, the suspect was already in a state of unconsciousness and, on the way to hospital, gave up the ghost.
It was further gathered that the suspect had been on the wanted list of the police operatives over his nefarious activities, ranging from several reported cases of Armed Robbery within Obollo Afor and its environs.
One locally made pistol with live cartridges.”
