Recession: Former Presidents Owed 10 Months Salaries & Allowances

The Presidency revealed Thursday that in the last ten months, the Federal government has not paid the salaries and allowances of former President of the federal Republic of , Alhaji Shehu Shagari.


Shehu who is ninety-one years old, was President of Nigeria between 1979- 1983.

Also affected in the non payment of salaries and allowances since January this year are Olusegun Obasanjo; Goodluck Jonathan; former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, rtd; General Abdulsalami Abubakar; General Yakubu Gowon and Chief Ernest Shonekan.
According to Vanguard, these were revealed to the Senators Thursday when the Senate Committee on of Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, led by Senator Tijjani Kaura (APC, Zamfara North) visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.
