Ogun State: Tanker explosion razes filling station, Dangote & 17 vehicles
In the early hours of Friday the 15th, a Tanker carrying fuel fell and caught fire at the entrance to Bible College Road (Theology School) along Abeokuta expressway, just right after the Sango toll gate axis.
The sango ota toll gate axis has been a hotspot for accidents as atleast one major disaster happens monthly here, joju is not left out as trucks crash virtually every two days, including today, two trucks crashed, a danfo (public bus) trying to pass its side got stuck too.
Mpmania reports the fire tragedy to be massive as over 18 vehicles including one Dangote truck carrying bags of cement, a truck carrying steels, a filling station, two buses, other trucks and some cars. Car dealer shops along the other side of the road were saved from the fire as none of their vehicles got burnt, this is what is referred to as a miracle as they were very close to the fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the police tried to keep people off the scene but their vehicle got caught in the fire, the Ogun State fire service got to the scene but was unable to put off the fire as they had just water, they were assisted by the Lagos State fire service whose team provided them with the necessary fire extinguishing chemicals.
There is currently just one functional side of the road which has just enough space for small vehicles to go through as fire caught other vehicles, thereby, blocking the speed lane and last lane of the road.
The number of casualties is unconfirmed at this time.
Just some weeks ago, a truck crushed an Okada man and his passengers.
