Osaze Happy On The Road Of Reconciliation

Nigeria international striker, Peter Odemwingie has confirmed that all is now well between him and Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.

Keshi told supersport and mpmania in March that contrary to stories making the rounds, he was back in good terms with the Stoke City striker.

Odemwingie has now backed Keshi’s comments in an interview with BBC Sport.

“I have been speaking with the coach (Keshi); it’s the only right thing to do.

“I had to be humble and make a step forward towards my senior colleagues,” Odemwingie said.

The 32-year-old then took the time to commend Super Eagles psychologist, Dr. Robinson Okosun for the role he played in ensuring a truce was called.

Dr. Okosun, who was in Cardiff in December 2013 for the purpose is humbled by Odemwingie’s compliments but insists he was only doing his job for the general good of Nigerian football.

“First, I must thank Odemwingie for his kind words. He’s has a good heart and is the perfect professional.

“I also want to state through this medium that the role I played was only a small role in the service of the fatherland, Nigeria.

“My job as the national team psychologist goes beyond helping the players only when they are in the national camp; I ensure that I keep tabs on them even when they are back at their clubs and offer advice when necessary.

“I speak to them and in cases when things are not going according to script, I often step in as was the case with Odemwingie.

“We are pleased at the development and can only hope for the best in the days to come,” Okosun exclusively told on Friday.

Odemwingie is widely expected to earn a recall to the Nigeria squad when Keshi names his provisional squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil.

The forward who last played for Nigeria on February 29, 2012 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Rwanda at the Stade Régional de Nyamirambo, Kigali has been in great form this season and has scored six goals in the English Premier League this season.

He has the best goals to games ratio at Stoke as only Peter Crouch (seven goals) and Charlie Adam (six) have scored more goals than him for the Potters this term.

Odemwingie earned his Nigeria debut in 2002 and has since scored nine goals in 55 appearances for the Super Eagles.
