Returning to Lagos, Nigeria, after over a decade in the US, WurlD draws inspiration from the sonic landscape of his hometown. The EP, which is his fifth release in five years, marks a significant chapter in his musical journey. While the tracks resonate with the vibrant energy of Lagos, WurlD’s crisp melodies and compelling hooks take center stage, especially in songs like “Do It” and the reggaeton-infused “Sare.”

The focus track, “Shake,” is a standout piece that blends South African amapiano basslines, afrobeats rhythms, and atmospheric house horn samples. Produced by Anne “Ketta” Telstra and Moussa, the song underscores WurlD’s versatility and ability to seamlessly fuse diverse genres.

“Don’t Get Used To This” is more than just a musical project for WurlD; it’s a love project centered on embracing the present moment. The EP encourages listeners to immerse themselves in the depth of emotions experienced in the present without dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. WurlD’s distinctive approach to love themes adds a layer of authenticity to his music.

This EP also marks WurlD’s debut under Addictive Content, a label he co-founded with his brother Muktar Onifade. The label aims to spotlight the future sounds and the next generation of African talent. Collaborating with emerging producers signed to the label, WurlD co-produced each track on the EP, except for “Location,” which was solely produced by the veteran Nigerian producer Sarz.

WurlD’s journey from a songwriter in Atlanta to a prominent figure in the afrobeats scene reflects his commitment to musical evolution and innovation. The “Don’t Get Used To This” EP not only reinforces his status as a unique talent but also contributes to the exploration and diversification of contemporary African music.
