The British pianist and composer Alexis Ffrench does not write music for concert halls alone. He writes for the drive home, for the quiet between conversations, for the moment the house finally settles. Ffrench, born in Surrey in 1970, taught himself to play by watching his family’s dining room table, mimicking the hands of pianists he saw on television. By age four he was composing string quartets. Seven years later he became the organist at his local church. He studied at the Purcell School, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the Royal Academy of Music, where he now serves as a trustee and artistic director of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the first person in that institution’s 132‑year history to hold the position. His albums have topped classical charts. His music has been streamed more than 500 million times. He has performed at the coronation of King Charles III. Now, with “24,” his first studio album since 2024’s Classical Soul Vol. 1, Ffrench structures a full day in music.

The album comprises 24 original pieces, each representing a single hour from sunrise to nightfall. “Grateful” closes the cycle. The track runs two minutes. Ffrench produced the piece himself. He performs on piano, layered with strings and subtle percussion. The melody moves with a calm, unhurried pace. There is no tension, no dramatic resolution, no sudden shift in key. The piece simply arrives, stays, and fades. It is not music for analysis. It is music for feeling.
The official music video, streaming on Ffrench’s YouTube channel, matches the track’s quiet energy. Shot in a dimly lit room, the camera holds on Ffrench as he plays. No cutaways. No dancers. No narrative. Just the artist and his instrument. The visual premiered on the same day the album was announced, months before the full record arrived. Ffrench dedicated the video to anyone who needs a moment of stillness.
