The American singer and the French DJ have built a small empire on collaborations that turn heartbreak into a festival chant. “Sad Girls,” their latest joint release, dropped on May 29, 2026, as the third preview of Bebe Rexha’s fourth studio album, “Dirty Blonde,” due June 12 via EMPIRE. The track marks the pair’s first studio reunion since 2021’s “I’m Good (Blue),” a sample-driven hit that cracked the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 and accumulated more than three billion streams. Their working relationship stretches back to 2015’s “Hey Mama,” a collaboration with Nicki Minaj that defined mid-decade dance radio. Rexha, born Bleta Rexha in Brooklyn to Albanian parents, built a career as a songwriter before stepping into the spotlight, co-writing Eminem and Rihanna’s “The Monster” and penning hits for Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas. She has earned Grammy nominations and multiple platinum certifications for her own work. Her 2023 album “Bebe” peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. Guetta, born Pierre James Guetta in Paris, pioneered the EDM-pop crossover with 2009’s “One Love” and its anthem “When Love Takes Over.” He has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, won two Grammys, and earned the title of most-streamed French artist in history.

“Sad Girls” runs three minutes. The production credits read like a production camp gathering: David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, MXM, Osrin, Starra, Kiddo, Zakai, Vera Carlbom, and Timofey Reznikov all share the board. The track sits on a progressive house beat, a sound Guetta pioneered in the early 2010s. Bright synths and an unrelenting kick drum drive the arrangement. Rexha’s vocal moves between a conversational verse and a soaring, melodic chorus. She wrote the lyrics from personal experience. “I’ve spent plenty of nights on a dance floor with a broken heart,” she says. “This song is for anyone who has ever refused to let the sadness win.”

The official music video, streaming on Rexha’s YouTube channel, leans into the contradiction at the song’s core. Directed with a psychological twist, the clip places Rexha in a therapist’s office. She recounts the stages of a breakup while a second version of herself dances through a neon-lit club. The two narratives run parallel. The therapist does not offer a cure. The dancing does not erase the pain. The video ends with Rexha leaving the office, her face unreadable, the beat still playing in the background. She and Guetta appear together in the studio, laughing at a laptop screen, the easy chemistry that has fueled a decade of hits. The visual premiered on the same day as the single. No additional making-of footage has been released.
