Nigerian singer Boy Spyce doesn’t make music for the faint of heart. Born Ugbekile David Osemeke in Isolo, Lagos on May 10, 2001, the Mavin Records signee grew up as the last child in a family of seven, surrounded by music. His older brother was in a boyband; that early exposure planted a seed. Boy Spyce started posting song covers on social media in 2019, but the 2021 cover that caught Don Jazzy’s attention was Wizkid’s “Essence.” Mavin signed him in 2022, and his self-titled debut EP went number one on the Nigerian Apple Music chart. Two 2023 singles, “Folake” and “Pepe,” became instant party favorites. In 2025, his collaboration “I Don’t Care” with Khaid peaked in the top 30 of Apple Music’s Nigeria Top 100. Now, he releases “HEAVENLY RACE,” a standout track from his 2026 EP “RED PILL.”
The song features Ajebo Hustlers, the Port Harcourt-born duo comprising singer Isaiah Precious (Piego) and rapper George Dandeson (Knowledge). The two met in a catering company where they worked as waiters in 2010 and formed their group in 2015. Their 2020 single “Barawo” featuring Davido became an anthem for the End SARS protests and won them the Best Duo award at the Soundcity MVP Awards. Apple Music named them the first Nigerian artists featured in its ‘Up Next’ programme. Their unique brand of street-conscious lyricism and melodic delivery makes them a perfect partner for Boy Spyce’s vocal style.
Red Pill
“HEAVENLY RACE” is a soulful Afro-fusion record. Produced by Madd Thing, the track blends mellow Afrobeats percussion, warm atmospheric instrumentation, and smooth vocal harmonies. The song centers on perseverance, ambition, faith, and the daily grind of chasing purpose. The title suggests a spiritual journey; the music carries that weight without losing its groove. Lyrically, Boy Spyce and Ajebo Hustlers trade verses about keeping their eyes on the prize while navigating life’s obstacles. The official visual, streaming on YouTube, was released on May 29, 2026. It is a lyric video rather than a traditional music video, allowing the words to take center stage. A static street scene and a car under a traffic light accompany the text, keeping the focus on the message. Boy Spyce is credited as both lead performer and songwriter. Isaiah Precious and George Dandeson wrote their own lyrics. The mixing engineer is Vtek. The EP “RED PILL” carries six tracks that blend storytelling and emotional depth.
