Notably, this song marks Halle’s first solo venture beyond her musical duo with her sister, Chloe, known as Chloe x Halle. It also stands separate from the songs she recorded for Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.”

Fans got a sneak peek of “Angel” on December 31, 2022, when Halle shared a preview on her Instagram story. The clip was taken from a studio session held on February 1, 2022, and showcased her singing along to the instrumental. She expressed her excitement in the caption, mentioning that she believes the song to be one of her best solo creations.

After seven months, on July 25, 2023, Halle updated her social media descriptions, simply using the angel emoji. She responded to a fan’s inquiry about the lead single with three angel emojis, hinting at the forthcoming release. Two days later, on July 27, 2023, she officially announced her own Discord server, where the title of the single was confirmed in the general chat’s name.
