The Swedish electro-pop duo that turned “I Love It” into a global chant in 2012 returns with a different kind of anthem. Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, the women behind Icona Pop, built their career on unapologetic, high-energy releases. Their debut full-length This Is… Icona Pop (2013) featured the platinum-selling “I Love It” alongside club-ready cuts that defined an era. After a hiatus that saw both members start families, the duo came back swinging in 2023 with the album Club Romantech.

Now, fresh off announcing their fall 2026 Club Romantech 2.0 European Tour, Icona Pop drops “Butterfly Feelings.” The song runs three minutes and lands in late May 2026 via Ultra Records. Jason Gill, who produced much of their 2023 comeback material, sits behind the boards again. The track opens with a shimmering, nostalgic trance melody that builds into a kinetic bassline. The production evokes the tail end of a summer night when the sun starts to rise. The lyrics do not hide the ache. “Bittersweet like a symphony of heartbreak in the air,” the duo sings. Caroline Hjelt described the song as “a melancholic love letter to the feeling of heartbreak.” Aino Jawo added, “It’s a song you can dance to while crying—our specialty.” No official music video accompanies the release.
