American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, has made her way back to Spanish-language pop. On May 29, she, French DJ David Guetta, and Mexican corrido tumbado artist Gabito Ballesteros released the single “Sálvame Hoy.” The track is a Spanish version of “Save Me Tonight,” the dance-pop collaboration Lopez and Guetta first issued earlier in the spring. “Save Me Tonight” reached number one on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, giving Lopez her second number one on that list after “On the Floor,” and extending Guetta’s record for the most chart-toppers on that tally. She had been performing the English version on her Las Vegas residency “The JLo Show” and at Coachella 2026, where Guetta surprised festival-goers by bringing her on stage.

For the Spanish rendition, Lopez and Guetta invited Gabito Ballesteros. The Sinaloa-born rapper has built a following inside the corridos tumbados movement, the same regional Mexican style that helped break artists such as Peso Pluma. Ballesteros adds a new verse and a bridge, moving the track out of pure EDM-pop territory. The production, helmed by Guetta alongside Brandon Riester and Joey Barrios, keeps the propulsive house beat of the original while leaving room for Ballesteros’s delivery and Lopez’s Spanish vocals. Lopez sings about a love that may not last but feels urgent enough to save her in the moment. Ballesteros responds with lines about wanting to take her to the sky, wrapping the dance track in a warm, romantic glow.

The single arrived on Lopez’s birthday weekend. She turned fifty-six on July 24. The release follows her re-recorded version of “This Is Me… Then” and her Amazon Prime series “This Is Me… Now: The Film.” Guetta, named the number one DJ in the world by DJ Mag for a fifth time, continues his Monolith Tour and his Las Vegas residency at Fontainebleau. Ballesteros, for his part, steps onto a global stage, bridging the gap between regional Mexican music and international pop.
