“STAR WALKIN’” is a single by Lil Nas X, which he teased several times through Twitter and TikTok as early as May 2022. The song is the anthem of the League of Legends 2022 World Championship. The first time fans heard the full song was as an encore on the Long Live Montero tour in support of his MONTERO album, which started on September 6th, 2022.

On September 15th, 2022, Lil Nas announced a partnership with the multiplayer video game League of Legends to promote both “STAR WALKIN’” and the game’s 2022 World Championship. The company behind League of Legends, Riot Games, released a video wherein LNX acts as “Lil Nas Xecutive” and becomes the president of the company, playing “STAR WALKIN’” throughout their offices.

Initially slated to be released on September 23rd, the single’s release date moved up one day for unconfirmed reasons.
