Kevin Olusola introduces “Hallelujah (I Don’t Think About You)” from his debut solo album Dawn of a Misfit, released this spring via Sony Music Masterworks under KO Enterprises.
As cellist, beatboxer, and bass singer of Pentatonix, the GRAMMY Award–winning a cappella ensemble, Olusola has influenced contemporary vocal music since the group won NBC’s The Sing-Off in the early two thousands. This track finds him singing that he no longer thinks about someone who believed he could not survive without them. Unlike a gospel rendition, the song pairs R&B hooks with atmospheric production layered over string motifs, reflecting his classical cello training and his Nigerian and Grenadian roots.
He co-produced the recording with veteran producer Gian Stone, whose past credits include work with leading pop and jazz artists. Dawn of a Misfit follows two extended plays that highlighted his “celloboxing” technique and his fusion of pop and classical elements. Its lead single “Dark Winter” blended Vivaldi samples with orchestral strings and 808 percussion, accompanied by a Ron Jaramillo–directed video in which Olusola and his “Misfit Mafia” shatter classical artifacts to signal breaking traditional molds.
The album draws inspiration from artists ranging from Sting to Fela Kuti and from Jacqueline du Pré to Jon Batiste, weaving themes of spirituality, fatherhood, and first-generation identity into its compositions. Pentatonix, which has released over a dozen albums including a GRAMMY-nominated holiday record, recently starred in a Netflix romantic comedy that topped streaming charts. With “Hallelujah (I Don’t Think About You),” Olusola delivers a personal narrative rooted in professional mastery. His solo debut builds on a reputation for technical precision and emotional honesty. Listeners will find his voice at the center of layered arrangements that trust beatbox rhythms and cello flourishes to carry a message of resilience and self-possession.

Lyrics
Hallelujah
You used to be my sweetest song
Hallelujah
Turns out the autotune was on
Hallelujah
You used to be my northern lights
Hallelujah
Turns out it was just CGI
Once upon a stupid time
You lived rent free inside my stupid mind
Thought without you I would die
So funny how since you’ve been gone I’m singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah Chorus
I’m singing Hallelujah I don’t think about you
Hallelujah Chorus (yuh)
Hallelujah ya ya ya
I’m singing Hallelujah I don’t think about you
Hallelujah
This freedom look too good on me
Hallelujah
I be 1, 2 steppin’ down the street
Hallelujah
And where I’m headed I don’t know
Hallelujah
But you won’t be there that’s for sure
I’m havin’ a ball, who knew I’d get to the top from a fall (yeah, yeah)
I’m high as a kite, don’t even smoke but I’m takin’ off flight
Father you hear like where did ya go, wait, nevermind you were just savin’ my soul
I low key lost hope, but now my energy, energy (energy, energy)
Flows
Flows
You already know
So funny how since you’ve been gone I’m singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah Chorus
(Oh ya ya ya)
I’m singing Hallelujah I don’t think about you
Hallelujah Chorus
(yuh, Hallelujah ya ya ya)
I’m singing Hallelujah I don’t think about you
My life’s so sweet (yeah my life is so sweet)
Summer sippin’ iced tea (summer sippin’ iced yuh)
My favorite record’s on repeat (my favorite record’s on repeat)
Cause yeah yeah, Hallelujah I don’t think about
You
I’m not thinkin’ bout you
Not a second on you (oh I’m not thinkin’ bout you)
So funny how since you’ve been gone I’m singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah Chorus (yuh)
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Hallelujah I don’t think about you (sheesh)
Hallelujah ya ya ya ya ya
I’m singing Hallelujah I don’t think about you
My life’s so sweet (yeah my life is so sweet)
Summer sippin’ iced tea (summer sippin’ iced tea)
My favorite record’s on repeat (whoa no no)
Cause yeah yeah, Hallelujah I don’t think about you
