Listen, read the lyrics, stream, buy, mp3 download “Welfare” by RMR featuring Westside Gunn. The song was produced by The Do Betters.
Considering that RMR’s first impression consisted of a spirited reimagining of a Rascal Flatts song, a track that won hearts through its juxtaposition of country-inspired melodies and trap visual imagery, the fact his debut EP opens with a Griselda feature is actually rather impressive. And yet, these are the times. Enter Drug Dealing Is A Lost Art, the brand new debut project from RMR, which finds him connecting with Westside Gunn on “Welfare.”
Off the bat, it’s clear that RMR’s dedication to his country influences has not yet faded. The piano-driven instrumental immediately captures an emotional tone, though it is admittedly a little offset by Gun’s signature ad-libs. And yet the vibe remains, with Westside proving adaptable as he segues into a verse from RMR. “Had to go and get it, my mama stuck on welfare,” he sings, laying his cards on the table. “Need that new Mercedes, I need a bitch like Offset.” You know what he means.

Lyrics
[Verse 1: Westside Gunn]
Woah
Had a hundred shots but it only took five to make that nigga fold
Hit twice up close, make sure he dead and sped off in a Rolls
Pleading “Please don’t kill me” (Don’t kill me)
Both headshot, nigga, what’s your dealy? (What’s your dealy?)
My shooter got a big bag, he from Philly (He from Philly)
In the projects but my neck in half a milli
[Chorus: RMR]
Had to go and get it, my momma stuck on welfare
Need the new Mercedes, I need a bitch like Offset
Windows tinted, you can’t see me now
Your girl on me, you can ask her how
Condo in the city, I moved up out the trap spot
Baguettes from Eliantte, to niggas these is diamonds
Money tall, just like the Eiffel Tower
Too much flexin’, I cannot slow down
[Post-Chorus: RMR]
Trips to overseas, got bitches in Belize
Went from foldin’ grams to playin’ ’round with keys
Caramel complexion, she got some big ol’ titties
Mad that I won’t plug from niggas turning greedy
[Chorus: RMR]
Had to go and get it, my momma stuck on welfare
Need the new Mercedes, I need a bitch like Offset
Windows tinted, you can’t see me now
Your girl on me, you can ask her how
Condo in the city, I moved up out the trap spot
Baguettes from Eliantte, to niggas these is diamonds
Money tall, just like the Eiffel Tower
Too much flexin’, I cannot slow down
[Verse 2: RMR]
Adios to my ho
Life that came with a struggle and
Kept that to myself and promised that a nigga always win
I know they hatin’ say they love me but it’s all pretend
On my positions check not checkers we can make amends
See me lit, see me flex, from the concrete grew a rose
Spittin like I’m fighting demons, nigga you can’t have my soul
The darkest corners of the earth and I’ll glow
The darkest corners of the earth and I’ll glow
[Chorus: RMR]
Had to go and get it, my momma stuck on welfare
Need the new Mercedes, I need a bitch like Offset
Windows tinted, you can’t see me now
Your girl on me, you can ask her how
Condo in the city, I moved up out the trap spot
Baguettes from Eliantte, to niggas these is diamonds
Money tall, just like the Eiffel Tower
Too much flexin’, I cannot slow down
Had to go and get it, my momma stuck on welfare
Need the new Mercedes, I need a bitch like Offset
Windows tinted, you can’t see me now
Your girl on me, you can ask her how
Condo in the city, I moved up out the trap spot
Baguettes from Eliantte, to niggas these is diamonds
Money tall, just like the Eiffel Tower
Too much flexin’, I cannot slow down
