Nigerian singer Tekno keeps the pressure on his long-awaited return. The singer, songwriter, and producer, born Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu in Bauchi State on December 17, 1992, dropped “Matter” on May 22, 2026. The track is the third single from his upcoming studio album Where Did Love Go?, set for release in June 2026 via emPawa Africa. Tekno produced the track himself, taking full creative control.
“Matter” follows the album’s earlier singles “Bamboo” and “Press Button.” Where “Bamboo” opens the album with a smooth, self-produced Afropop groove, and “Press Button” brings a dancehall bounce produced by Yung Willis, “Matter” lands somewhere in the middle. It is a mid-tempo record that leans into R&B warmth, layering soft percussion, subtle bounce, and a chant-like hook that repeats the title until it becomes a mantra. The message is simple: Tekno has found his person, and nothing else matters.

The song rides a warm, groove-led instrumental. Tekno moves between pidgin, slang, and melody, switching from tender affection to quiet confidence within the same breath. He addresses a “sexy baby” who is his matter—his business, his concern, his priority. Any hater who wants to shout gets shut down: “We go dance am, we go scatter”. The production, entirely handled by Tekno, reinforces the artist’s hands-on role across Where Did Love Go?, where he shapes much of the project’s sonic identity directly. The song creates a sonic bubble where love takes center stage, shutting out the noise of the world.
