Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage does not release singles by accident. The 46-year-old “Queen of Afrobeats,” born Tiwatope Omolara Savage on Lagos Island and educated at Berklee College of Music, built her reputation on precision. She spent years as a backup vocalist for George Michael and Mary J. Blige before signing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV in 2009. Her debut album “Once Upon a Time” arrived in 2013. A decade later, she has stacked awards, headlined arenas, and launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation in partnership with Berklee, awarding eighteen students scholarships worth $2.1 million in early 2026. Now she drops “Energy.” The track runs two minutes. It brings together Wande Coal, the 40-year-old Mo’Hits veteran who pioneered Afrobeats as a member of D’banj’s camp, and Mavo, the 22-year-old optometry student from Edo State who Billboard named African Rookie of the Month in November 2025.

Producer Krizbeatz, born Chris Alvin Sunday in Lagos on December 25, 1994, first gained recognition for producing Tekno’s 2016 smash “Pana.” He has since worked with Yemi Alade, Davido, and Skales. On “Energy,” he builds a vibrant, percussion-driven backdrop that locks into a groove and refuses to let go. The song previewed at the 2026 MOBO Awards. It arrives as the first release from Tiwa Savage’s forthcoming project. “Energy is about stepping into your power and owning who you are without apology,” Savage says. “It’s about confidence, ambition, and protecting your energy while staying focused on becoming everything you’re meant to be.” No official music video accompanies the release.
