On “NEW MAGIC WAND,” Tyler desperately attempts to convince someone he has feelings for to not leave him. However, the person Tyler is in love with is still thinking about their previous relationship with a woman. In the song, Tyler goes to extreme lengths such as threatening to kill both his love interest and his love interest’s ex-girlfriend in order to get what he wants.

On September 12, 2020, Tyler determined that “NEW MAGIC WAND” is his best song ever in a tweeted bracket ranking of all his own favourite songs. The song beat out OKAGA, CA for the number one spot. Tyler had previously declared it his favourite song on IGOR through Instagram on May 30, 2019.

The song was first teased in a 47-second snippet posted on Tyler’s social media platforms on May 14, 2019. The song opens with a grimy beat, and features a soft synth change during the bridge.

Tyler also referenced this track in numerous tweets[1][2] before the album was released. The song features Jessy Wilson and Santigold.
