As the world continues to adapt to the aftershocks that the COVID-19 pandemic caused, several industries and creators that found themselves disrupted by the pandemic for much of 2020 have started to figure out newer ways of engaging their audiences despite continued restrictions on gathering. Universal Music Nigeria artiste, Idahams, is one of those taking advantage of the world’s pivot to a more digital-focused means of consumption to remind the public of the gifts that make him one of Nigeria’s most highly-rated musicians.
Man On Fire, his 2020 extended play, blended elements of afrobeats with aspects of Idahams’ diasporic influences for one of the year’s most inspired releases. Songs like “Blessings” and “Shima” showed an evolving edge to his music, and to open up 2021, the Bonny-born musician is releasing a series of home-made live performances to give a unique spin on his singles.
The first in the series is a fun, light-hearted performance of “No One Else,” a simple ballad-like song that finds his emoting over twinkly chords and accompanying guitar strokes.
