Miguel is an artist who has dropped some incredible projects over the years. Overall, he is an amazing and soulful r&b artist who has come through with a plethora of hits. In the past, he has gone a while without dropping songs, which has always left fans wanting a bit more. However, when he does drop something, it is that much sweeter. For instance, he came through with “Give It To Me” last month, and it immediately became a success. This was thanks to the sexy sound of the record that impressed a lot of fans.

Since that time, fans have been hoping for something else. It seems like he is teasing an album of sorts, and consequently, that would mean more singles. Luckily for fans, he subsequently dropped off another new track today. Below, you can find his new song called “Rope.” Overall, the themes on this song are very strong, and it is going to be extremely heavy for some people.

“Rope” is a song by Miguel which was posted on YouTube by the singer on May 31, 2023, along with the full version of “Slow It Down.” As Miguel initially stated on his Instagram account that the latter song was a demo, it’s possible that “Rope” is also an unfinished track. It is uncertain whether the song will be included on the R&B artist’s upcoming fifth album.

Relying heavily on the imagery of suicide, Miguel adopts an unusually darker tone in his lyricism. “Rope” and its central themes of death and heartbreak could be in direct relation to his ongoing divorce from Nazanin Mandi. The couple were together for 17 years, meeting in 2005 and getting married in 2018. Mandi filed for divorce in October 2022. She was the inspiration behind the singer’s numerous songs and appeared alongside him in several of his music videos, most notably 2012’s “Do You…”.
