This is a sentiment that ’80s hair bands and 16-year-old climate activists now share. Greta Thunberg, who famously doesn’t fly for carbon footprint reasons, is not wasting any more time. She’s going down the road through the U.S. and Canada, and, by December 2, will land in Santiago, Chile, for the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference. She’ll be protesting and striking and meeting whales along the way.

One can imagine that when Whitesnake’s David Coverdale sang those words, he was thinking about driving 80, maybe 90, miles per hour. Thunberg noted that she’s traveling across North America “slowly,” and who knows if she’s even driving herself? Pretty metal, regardless, if you ask me.
Travelling slowly through North America, heading eventually for Santiago. I will stop and visit as many places as I can, and of course protest every Friday no matter where I am!#COP25Chile pic.twitter.com/jf4jLaC2nx
