NCIS might stage comeback to reunite Ziva and Tony

Is NCIS about to reunite Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo after years apart?

The possibility has been hanging in the air since the CBS procedural first brought back Cote de Pablo’s beloved character, and now it’s looking even more likely that Michael Weatherly, too, might stage a brief comeback. At least, Tuesday’s installment seems to promise as much.

De Pablo first returned to NCIS for her guest stint during this spring’s season 16 finale, coming back this fall to play the arc out. Turns out Ziva was the target of the attack during which she disappeared all those years ago—and she knew it, so she went deep undercover. Ziva’s NCIS colleagues, even Gibbs, have been unsure as to whether Ziva’s ex, Tony, knows she’s alive; Tuesday’s episode reveals once and for all that he does not. And now Ziva has the perfect opportunity to explain everything: When Ziva goes missing, Gibbs leaves a cryptic message for Tony, who calls him back later in the episode.
