From the heart of Lagos, a new voice is emerging, bringing fresh energy to the Afrobeat scene. Meet Cashley Bvnks, a young artist whose journey from the bustling streets of Ikorodu to the spotlight of the music industry is nothing short of remarkable.
Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Cashley shares, “I started doing music after I finished my secondary education in 2018/2019. That was the first day I stepped into the studio”
Fueled by a burning desire to share his talent with the world, Cashley turned to social media, using platforms like Instagram to showcase his skills. Through a series of captivating freestyle videos, he caught the attention of music enthusiasts and industry insiders alike, paving the way for his eventual breakthrough. “I created awareness with my freestyle videos” Cashley explains, recalling the pivotal role social media played in his journey.
Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of Afrobeat and Afrofusion, Cashley’s music reflects the sounds of his environment. With influences ranging from legends like Olamide and Don Jazzy to contemporary icons like Burna Boy, Cashley has crafted a sound that is uniquely his own. “I do Afrobeat and afrofusion inspired by trends of Afrobeat,” he explains, highlighting his commitment to staying true to his roots while pushing the boundaries of his genre.
As he gears up to release his debut album, “Ghetto Boi,” Cashley’s star continues to rise. With tracks like “Life of a Loner” already making waves, anticipation is building for what promises to be a defining moment in his career. “I have a new single I just dropped, ‘Life of a Loner,’ but I’m dropping my album officially soon,” Cashley reveals, hinting at the excitement that lies ahead.
Despite his rapid ascent to fame, Cashley remains grounded, guided by a deep sense of gratitude for those who have supported him along the way. “That’s my label, all thanks to Desanty Records for all they do. More thanks go to my parents and my CEO. I pray God bless them some more,”
he says, acknowledging the role his family and management team have played in his success.
