Wole Soyinka has responded to calls for him to tear his Green Card following the announcement of Trump’s victory.
The Nobel Laureate had vowed to tear his US green card and pack out of the US should Trump emerge president.
Speaking to Newsweek, the playwright says that he will not destroy his U.S. residency permit just yet.
“Why don’t we wait until Trump actually takes office?” says Soyinka.
“I’m just going about my normal commitments, but definitely not getting into any more commitments. Let’s put it that way for now.”
Donald Trump will be sworn in as America’s 45th president on Friday, January 20th, 2017.
