It is safe to assume that you have heard the name Asake on radio, Tv or even on social media. The Asake Phenomenon

The Asake Phenomenon

Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, was born on January 13, 1995. He is a fast-rising Nigerian musician loved by many for his vocal prowess and catchy song phrases. He debuted in the industry when he released his viral single titled Lady, which received widespread acceptance from Nigerians. The song was used and reposted by many skit makers and celebrities, including Broda Shaggi.

Asake began his journey into the entertainment industry as a dancer at a young age. His specialty was cultural dance, and he performed at school events earning the name Asake because of how good he was.

While Asake loved dancing, he also had a soft spot for music. He is said to have entertained his friends with covers of popular songs, and sometimes, he sang songs he composed himself. Asake then studied Theater & Performing arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he got his degree.

Asake started making music professionally in 2015. He joined the Afrobeats music sector, focusing on Afrofusion songs. For his pieces, Asake fuses Hip Hop, R&B, Fuji, and Amapiano sound to create his iconic music.

Asake started as a backup singer for Broda Shaggi’s band, performing at shows across Nigeria. In 2019, he then collaborated with Broda Shaggi and released the song, Star. Unsurprisingly, the song did well, and he got noticed by music fans. This success prompted the release of the single Lady in January 2020. Asake released his second single, Mr. Money, which was also a hit in 2020.

In 2022, he released the single Omo Ope. The song was an instant hit, and this time, he caught the attention of rapper and record label owner, Olamide. Olamide loved the music so much that he recorded his verse to the song. Shortly after, Asake was invited by Olamide, who offered to sign him to the YBNL record label, which Asake accepted.

He released his debut EP, Ololade Asake, shortly after. The EP contains tracks like Omo Ope, Trabaye, Sungba and Baba God. He also collaborated with Grammy Award Winner Burna Boy to record the remix of Sungba. The song topped the music charts for several weeks after its release.

Recently, he appeared as a featured artist on DJ Spinall’s song, Palazzo. And on the 16th of June 2022, he dropped his latest single; Peace Be Unto You [PBUY]. The music has received good ratings and has been streamed thousands of times by fans.

Since first appearing on our screens, Asake has become a familiar face and has amassed a net worth estimated to be around US$200,000 to US$500,000. Incredible right?

One thing we know for sure, this phenomenon is here to stay on the charts and we love to see it.
