Mercy Johnson vents over the lynching of suspected teenage robber in Lagos

Mercy Johnson has joined many Nigerians who have condemned the lynching of a teenager initially thought to be 7 years old.

She wrote:

“live so that when ur children think of fairness,caring and integrity,they think of u cus children are the keys of paradise.
how can anyone possibly do this to a child, wherever this happened?
I conderm this cruelty as every child is my child.

There was controversy yesterday when news filtered that the boy who was 7 had been caught stealing garri from a shop.

However, subsequent investigations revealed he was in his 20’s and was part of a gang who steal phones by stabbing their victims.

He was reportedly caught in the act.

The police are still investigating the case.
