Competition and rivalry are not unheard of in the entertainment industry and Nigerian celebrities are fast catching up on this.

Many insiders say rivalry often called “beef” is good for publicity and media buzz in showbiz, as long as artistes keep it violent-free.

But though understandable, this logic remains a debate of sorts.

Nigerian music stars Tiwa Savage and SeyiShay have been in the news in recent times for what many have termed a misunderstanding between both parties and even though neither of them has come out to admit this, from all indications things aren’t exactly smooth between them.

On Sunday, March 20, 2016 Seyi Shay was interviewed on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels TV by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and she spoke on her music and more, as well as addressing popular comparisons between her and Mavin Records superstars Tiwa Savage.

When asked what her relationship with the Eminado singer is like Seyi alluded to the fact that they aren’t close. She also stated that she does not really have friends within the Nigerian music industry.

She said:

“I don’t really know [Tiwa]. To be honest with you like I said I don’t really know her personally, I don’t have many friends in the music industry. They are my colleagues and we say hello, we say goodbye.

“We invite each other to different functions that are happening, that’s how it is with the female industry.”

In a recent interview with Punch, the Right Now singer increased the speculations as she asked that same questions on the nature of their current relationship should be sent to Tiwa Savage for her response as well.

She said:

“Please I would love it if you call her now and ask her this same question if there is any beef between Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay.”

She said:

“There is a quote that says that a competitive mind is not a creative mind and it is something I believe in. Girls compete against one another a lot and it is too much. Everybody competes but I think females do it a lot for no reason at all. If you are too busy competing, you will not have time to be creative.

“The post on Instagram was not directed to anybody, I was just minding my business but people took it the wrong way. I am aware that some people thought I was directing it at Tiwa Savage but I was not. After I had posted it, I told myself that I hope people would not think it was directed at anybody but I didn’t care that much; so I just left it.”
