After the construction of the stadium with a high-tech air conditioning system, Qatar wants to go even further to mark the 2022 World Cup. The World 2022 Organizing Committee presented a new innovation. The country will for the first time offer a world cup, a stadium fully removable, transportable and reusable.

This stadium will be built on the banks of Doha, right next to the port of the Qatari capital on a total area of 450,000 m². It will be made of modified containers and other materials reused and delivered by 2020. The Ras Abu Aboud Stadium is the name of this stadium that will welcome 40,000 spectators.

The most interesting is that when the 2022 World Cup ends on December 18, 2022, the stadium can be dismantled and reassembled on another site. The Spanish architect firm Fenwick Iribarren is the masterpiece of this project.

Fifa has welcomed this project when we know that the facilities of major events are often abandoned as in Brazil or Russia. According to her, ”  the construction of Ras Abu Aboud Stadium will require fewer materials, create less waste and reduce the carbon footprint .”

For his part, Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the World 2022 Organizing Committee, said ”  Innovation has always been at the heart of our project. That of delivering a World Cup that leaves a legacy for both Qatar and the world, and there is no better example than the Ras Abu Aboud stadium . ”
