It was fun and colour at the Unilag Sports Centre on the weekend where celebrities from different fields in the entertainment industry came together to play football in an attempt to raise awareness for Out-Of-School children and raise funds for 200 such children. The event which was tagged ‘Football For A Cause’ was organized by a volunteer driven project StayInSchoolng Initiative.

The roll call on the field was overwhelming with the likes of Naeto C, Skales, Shaydee, Olisa, Elenu, Owen Gee, Seyi Law, Akpororo, Omobaba, Senator, Funny bone, Oye, Wale Rubber, Breeze and Uche of City FM, Nedu, Damirez of Top Radio, Mc Abbey, Kollertunz, Kayode Peters, Yaw, Adams Soundcity, Bonus, Wole MD EXP Marketing amongst others gracing the pitch to display their skills.

The guests were in for a comical match as the comedians dominated the pitch dribbling and running commentaries simultaneously. The highpoint of the match was a lone goal from Breeze of City FM which saw Team Green captained by Naeto C go home with the trophy at the end of the match.

Speaking on the event, Coordinator of the StayInSchoolng Initiative Tricia Ikponmwonba said ’The concept of merging entertainment and football was a difficult but rewarding experience, we are grateful to all the celebrities who took out time to come out to support us. We have previously enrolled 75children into schools and will be enrolling 200 more children in the following week.

The fight for education for the street child continues as we commence preparations for Season 2.
